The Fox ESS EP5 is a high-voltage LiFePO₄ storage module for residential and light-commercial solar systems. Each unit provides 5.18 kWh nominal energy. Up to four modules can be connected in parallel, giving a maximum capacity of approximately 20.8 kWh.
Technical overview
Nominal voltage is 192 V with an operating range of about 174–219 V. Maximum continuous charge and discharge current is 27 A; recommended charge current is 13.5 A. Round-trip efficiency is ≥95% and depth of discharge is 90%. Cycle life is typically ≥4,000 cycles under rated conditions. Communication with the inverter is via CAN.
The EP5 carries an IP65 rating and can be wall- or floor-mounted indoors or outdoors when manufacturer clearances and temperature limits are respected. Typical operating range is 0–55 °C for charging and −10–55 °C for discharging. Dimensions are approximately 380 × 625 × 147 mm and weight is about 50.5 kg.
Compatibility and installation
EP5 modules are compatible with Fox ESS hybrid and AC-coupled inverters in the H1, KH, H3, H3 PRO and related series. They should not be mixed with higher-voltage EP11/EP12 modules. Parallel systems usually require the Fox high-voltage junction box. Correct BMS settings, DC isolation, protection devices and commissioning are required for safe operation.
In Pakistan the EP5 suits smaller homes, apartments or incremental storage upgrades where evening self-consumption and limited backup are the main goals. Runtime depends on connected load, inverter power limit and the reserve SOC set during commissioning. Confirm exact module count, usable energy, warranty and approved inverter model before ordering.
