The Fox ESS H3 PRO 20kW is a three-phase hybrid inverter for commercial and high-demand residential sites that need more power than a typical domestic storage inverter can deliver. It combines PV conversion, grid interaction, AC charging, high-voltage battery management, and EPS backup. It can be used with compatible Fox ESS high-voltage battery systems or, where allowed by the exact version, installed initially without batteries as a battery-ready grid-tied inverter.

Overview

The H3 PRO family is described by Fox ESS with three MPPT trackers, two strings per MPPT, a 160V start-up voltage, two battery inputs, IP65 protection, EPS function, and app or web monitoring. Fox ESS also describes substantial PV oversizing capability and parallel expansion when AI Link hardware is used. These features give the 20kW model a flexible system role, but they are not a substitute for the exact electrical table. 3

A 20kW three-phase hybrid inverter can support a commercial building with offices, lighting, refrigeration, pumps, workshop machinery, communications equipment, and selected cooling loads. At night, the battery can discharge to reduce grid imports. During a grid interruption, the EPS output can feed a selected emergency-load board if the battery has sufficient state of charge and the connected demand is within the inverter’s power and surge limits.

Key features

The H3 PRO can be attractive for staged projects. A site may begin with PV and the inverter, then add storage after the owner has measured consumption or secured budget. If storage is installed later, the battery model and configuration must be selected from Fox ESS’s approved compatibility list. EP and EQ/CQ families can have different module arrangements and expansion rules. Battery strings should not be mixed casually across generations or models. High-voltage installation requires approved cables, BMS communication, isolators, protection, and commissioning by a qualified technician.

IP65 protection supports correctly installed indoor or outdoor use. The inverter should be kept away from flooding, corrosive vapours, blocked airflow, and unnecessary direct sun. Remote monitoring can assist with performance checks and fault response, subject to communications availability. For Pakistan, the quotation should confirm phase arrangement, grid voltage, EPS wiring, battery capacity, PV limits, AI Link or parallel requirements, warranty, grid certification, and installation scope.

Applications and compatibility

The difference between energy and power should be explained clearly to customers. Battery capacity, expressed in kWh, affects runtime; inverter output, expressed in kW or kVA, affects the maximum simultaneous load. A 20kW inverter does not guarantee 20kW of backup for an unlimited period, and a large battery cannot make a smaller inverter deliver a higher instantaneous output. Pumps, compressors, elevators, welders, and air-conditioners may require substantial starting current, so their inclusion in the EPS circuit must be assessed individually.
